Project case study
Screened Porch Addition with Pet Door
A screened porch addition with its own roof, tied into the house and finished with the detail this family actually asked for first: a pet door their dog can use without anyone playing doorman.

A real room, not a bolt-on
This porch carries its own shingled roof, matched to the house, over a fully screened aluminum structure. From the yard it reads as part of the original floor plan. Inside, French doors from the house open onto shaded, bug-free space that works for morning coffee and for the dog's tenth trip out before noon.
The pet door detail
Screen mesh and dogs have a short life expectancy together. Instead of letting the dog invent an opening, we framed a proper pet door into the lower wall panel, sized to the animal and mounted into structure rather than into mesh. The flap seals, the screen stays intact, and the dog manages his own schedule.
